Texans’ Brock Osweiler on new offense: Like learning French in front of 75K people

The bold moves and offensive makeover the Texans gave themselves during free agency didn’t stop there. Wholesale New Orleans Saints Jerseys

That fact pleased the player at the center of their free agent haul.

“What quarterback doesn’t like some speed on the outside?” quarterback Brock Osweiler said during the Houston Texans’ Charity Golf Classic. “Very exciting draft, but it was an exciting draft as a whole. Everybody we took I think will help this football team somewhere. As coaches say, it’s about finding your role. We’re coming together as a team.”

While the Texans have spent the offseason making over their offense, their level of success will center around their most significant move. Osweiler’s development and comfort level will dictate much of whether those changes work. He’s working on it now and it’s energized him. New Orleans Saints Jerseys

“You know, it’s fun,” Osweiler said. “It’s hard to judge that progress because we haven’t hit the practice field and gone against a defense. It’s like you speak Spanish your whole life and then they tell you to go learn French and do it in front of 75,000 people.”

As with many offensive players before him, Osweiler has reveled in the depth of knowledge his new coaches have.

Recall, when former Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and was traded to the New York Jets, he said he learned more about football during his year in Houston than he did at any other point in his career. Current players also have praised the offensive minds they work with here, including coordinator George Godsey.

“There are a lot of really good answers and things that go with this system if you’re willing to put in the time and ask questions, good questions,” Osweiler said. “That’s what we’re doing right now as a unit. Coach Godsey is a brilliant mind, a great teacher and it’s been fun learning from him so far.” cheap NFL Jerseys

Osweiler was the first domino in a dramatic offseason. The Texans signed Osweiler to a four-year deal worth $72 million in March, and also added running back Lamar Miller on a four-year deal worth $26 million and guard Jeff Allen on a four-year deal worth $28 million.

Miller is fast. His signing began an offseason trend.

First-round pick Will Fuller was the fastest receiver at the NFL scouting combine. Third-round pick receiver Braxton Miller was known for his speed on the field at Ohio State. Running back Tyler Ervin, a fourth-round pick, is fast too.

They’ll all be weapons at Osweiler’s disposal.

“I think we had a very exciting draft as a whole,” he said. “That’s not stuff I’m going to overly concern myself with. I’m very excited to have the rookies in the building, but they have a lot to learn just like I have a lot to learn.” Wholesale NFL Jerseys
