While the Texans have spent the offseason making over their offense, their level of success will center around their most significant move. Recall, when former Texans quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and was traded to the New York Jets, he said he learned more about football during his year in Houston than he did at any other point in his career. “There are a lot of really good answers and things that go with this system if you’re willing to put in the time and ask questions, good questions,” Osweiler said. “That’s what we’re doing right now as a unit. Osweiler was the first domino in a dramatic offseason. The Texans signed Osweiler to a four-year deal worth $72 million in March, and also added running back Lamar Miller on a four-year deal worth $26 million and guard Jeff Allen on a four-year deal worth $28 million.
Miller is fast. His signing began an offseason trend.
First-round pick Will Fuller was the fastest receiver at the NFL scouting combine. Third-round pick receiver Braxton Miller was known for his speed on the field at Ohio State. Running back Tyler Ervin, a fourth-round pick, is fast too.
They’ll all be weapons at Osweiler’s disposal.
